Uppsala University Library

The purpose of the Alvin platform is to preserve and make digitized collections available, but the database is also a catalogue of materials not yet digitized.

About Alvin

Alvin is developed and managed by Uppsala University Library in cooperation with several other cultural heritage institutions. The database contains the personal archives of authors, artists, and others, advertising posters, medical history, portraits, early polar exploration photographs, botanical illustrations, letters, sketchbooks, and much more. The digitization has been made during several years, which means that materials may have been digitized in various resolution and in different ways. Most of the digitized materials in Alvin are free to download and use.
